Course Aims: This course is designed to provide participants with a basic understanding of food safety at a level that is widely accepted as being appropriate for all food handlers working in the catering industry. It has been developed to protect customers, brand reputation and profits.

Who Should Attend This Course? Anyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking and serving of food to the public. Appropriate food safety training is mandatory for food handlers and necessary to ensure safe food is served to the public. This Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering is a qualification aimed at caterers and other food handlers. Its topics are regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production and service of safe food.

Examining Body: Highfield

Examination type: This exam consists of 20 multiple choice questions, and participants have up to 45 minutes to complete it. Successful participants must achieve a score of at least 12 out of 20.

Qualification: Participants achieving a pass in the examination are registered with Highfield and are awarded a Nationally recognised Highfield Certificate Level 2 qualification in Food Safety for Catering.

Qualification Regulation: The Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering has been developed and is awarded by Highfield Qualifications and sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The RQF is a qualification framework regulated by Ofqual.
