We are registered as a Training Centre with Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) and are fully compliant with their rigorous compliance standards. HABC is a leading independent, Awarding Organisation operating in the compliance arena with an aim to promote education, training and qualifications. HABC is accredited by Ofqual, Welsh Government, CCEA and SQA.

We can also offer unaccredited bespoke courses specific to a client’s needs.

Food Hygiene and Food Safety Qualifications

Food Safety in Catering Level 2 Training (HABC)

This Food Hygiene course aims to provide attendees with a knowledge base and understanding of food hygiene and safety to a Level 2 standard.

The training is held over a single day and follows the Highfield syllabus. Practical illustrations are provided to enable your staff to appreciate how things can go wrong and the consequences that can result. Questions and discussion will be welcome so as to ensure the course meets your needs.

The day will be delivered by one of our food safety consultants, an Environmental Health Officer with many years experience of enforcing food safety legislation and also providing advice and training in food safety and hygiene.

We include a lot of interactivity in our course, to put fun into subjects that some may find difficult, which helps them to understand and remember what they learn during the day.

The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering is a qualification aimed at caterers and other food handlers. The qualification is intended for people already working in catering and those who are preparing to work in the industry.

Your staff gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food. Its’ topics are regarded by the Food Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production of safe food.

Everyone signed up to the course is registered with Highfield. The course has been accredited by the regulators of England, Wales and Northern Ireland (Ofqual, Welsh Government and CCEA) and is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). All successful learners receive a certificate.

This qualification is assessed by a thirty question multiple-choice examination.

Individuals achieving this qualification can then progress onto any of the HABC Level 3 Food Safety qualifications, which are ideal for those wishing to work in a supervisory role.

Food Safety in Catering Level 3 Training (HABC)

This qualification is aimed at supervisors, team leaders and line managers working in the catering industry including those working in the care sector. The qualification is also suitable for those who own/manage a small catering business.

The course is held over three days.

The topics covered on the course include the role of the supervisor in ensuring compliance with food safety legislation, the application and monitoring of good hygiene practice, how to implement food safety management procedures and the role of the supervisor in staff training.

This qualification is assessed by a sixty question multiple-choice examination.

Legal Compliance

They are also designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own responsibilities and how they contribute to the effective maintenance of health and safety policies.

Our Health and Safety qualifications are suitable for both the public and private sectors.

Qualification Levels

We provide four levels of Health and Safety qualifications. The purpose of each level is as follows:

Level 1 – ensures that candidates are equipped with a basic knowledge of health and safety in their workplace, including the duties under UK health and safety legislation.

Level 2 – provides candidates with knowledge of practices that are essential in the workplace. This includes the hazards and risks presented in the workplace along with the relevant legislation, and ensures awareness of cost-effective, practical control methods.

Level 3 – equips staff to manage the effects of accidents and incidents. It also focuses on the importance of the health and safety culture of a business which is an invaluable resource to organisations.

Level 4 – this qualification is aimed at supervisors and managers with direct responsibility with Health and Safety management. This qualification focuses on the legal and moral obligations supervisors and managers have to ensure health and safety within a business. It also covers obligations to employees, contractors, visitors and suppliers.
